Carnival Birthday Party

For Ryann and Addy's birthday this year we decided to combine their party and do a carnival theme. We had a blast! We have so many great pictures (thanks to my friend Patty Crane) that I made a video to upload to You Tube....only it won't work :( I will try and see what I can do and let you know when it is there. In the meantime here are a few pictures to hold you over. For invitations my sister helped me make a darling circus tent in primary colors. Many people may not know but Las Vegas can be VERY VERY windy! I prayed for a beautiful none windy day. All week it was beautiful then came the party day and the wind was crazy! It popped my balloons and I was unable to use some of the decorations :( ....luckily by the end of the night the winds calmed. Despite the wind it was lots of fun!!!

Birthday Helpers-Kylee's friends came to help run the games

Centerpieces I made

Birthday Girls in the Bouncy House

It was a very windy day!!! Bad for all the balloons but great for bubbles!

SOME OF THE GAMES

This one was the favorite for Ryann's age and the Fish Pond was the favorite for the younger kids.

Now for a little entertainment for the adults...a friendly little pie eating contest turned into fight.

Our CUTE CLOWN! She did face painting, got them dancing, did a magic trick, and topped it off with balloon animals.....she was GREAT!

The Ticket booth I made out of a box and some PVC, wrapping paper, and fabric.
My Sister handed each kid a bag filled with tickets for the games as they entered the carnival.

The cake

Sparklers to end the night!

Some carnival treats

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Alyssa

We invited families which means my friends were there too!

Nothing screams Carnival like COTTON CANDY & POPCORN!
For dinner we had a Hot Dog bar with watermelon and chips. Picture below is before the food was put out.

Lab Work

Since I have a lovely lump protruding from my neck I have begun the ever fun process of tests. I am not a big fan of needles, AT ALL. I really don't understand why because it isn't really that painful but the whole thing bugs me. I also can't handle seeing my own blood or seeing a needle being stuck inside my body.

So off to the lab to get my blood drawn...denied the first time because the nurse forgot to inform me I needed to fast (hour of my day wasted).

Take Two next day. This time I had to take Addy and Ryann with me. Ryann who shares my fear of needles was very concerned that she would have it done to her too. She is a very smart girl and probably realizes that if a needle is involved with her we won't say anything until it is about to happen. When I told her it was just for me she was still concerned the lady might try and take her blood too. This gave me the perfect opportunity....I told her as long as she was good, I wouldn't let it happen. Okay so I know this is really mean but if it means she will be nice to Addy and not complain or whine about something, I will play that card.

Once inside the waiting room a young toddler is called back. Poor guy was screaming and crying and it took 3 people to hold him down so the lady could get his blood.

Ryann looks up at me very concerned and asks, "Are we being good?" The look on her face was priceless. I couldn't help but laugh to myself and kinda feel guilty.

2 minutes later the boy is still screaming and Addy looks at me concerned and asks, "Mommy are you going to cry?" AHhhh how sweet, she was concerned about her Mom. Cry no. Pass-out maybe.

After they were done taking most of my blood I was helping the girls get into the car when this conversation took place.

Addy: Mom I don't want my blood ever taken.
Ryann: (In her rude tone) Well when you are a mom you will have to get your blood taken.
Addy: (Freaked out) Mom, I don't want to be a mom when I get bigger.

Needless to say I got my entertainment for the day.

Candy Themed Birthday Party

Time for another birthday! Alyssa turns ten on March 27th. This year we needed to have her party the weekend before her birthday and she wanted a candy themed party.

For her invitations I made paper lollipops that said:

Gum Drops, Lollipops, and Chocolate Galore
A Sweet Celebration we have in Store!
Come Celebrate Alyssa's 10th birthday!

Skittle on over....then I had the info. (sorry no picture since this is not a private blog don't need weirdos showing up to my house or calling me)

We are going to have a SWEET TIME!

I used the colors green, pink, and yellow to decorate the house. I made large candy and lollipops out of paper plates and bought TONS of different types of candy to have a candy bar.

The Cake
Alyssa wanted a crazy candy cake, so that is what she got! It had two tiers topped with cotton candy. I was able to take the top off and put it in the freezer to eat on her actually Birthday.

The Prize Bag
I always like to have a bag that the guests get at the beginning of the party so they can keep track of all of their prizes. In this case CANDY!

When the girls first arrived we had candy themed music playing in the background and had them make candy leis. This involved plastic wrap, candy, and ribbon.

The final product.

Next we played a game that involved covering up various types of candy with whipping cream. They had to get each piece of candy out without using their hands. This was so fun!

On your marks, get set......

GO!

And we have a WINNER!

The Candy Bar
After each game the winner got to choose two things and everyone else one thing. We had lots of different types of candy.

Next up was the Lifesaver Game. The girls were put into teams. Each team was given a roll of lifesavers. The first team to open and lick and stick all of the lifesavers to a team members face won!

The next game was similar to a white elephant gift exchange. I bought a different type of candy for each guest and wrapped them up. The girls went around the circle rolling a dice. Depending on the number they got to open a new one, steal, or everyone had to pass their gift to the left or right.

The last game we played was freeze dance. We played a candy themed song and the girls danced and laughed. They had so much fun they wanted to play this several times.

Cake and Ice Cream

Mean Mom put trick candles that wouldn't blow out...heehee

Addy and Ryann enjoyed some cake and ice cream too!

Presents
Every child's favorite part...

Some of her goods...

She still has more waiting to be opened on her actual birthday!

When it was time to go we handed out goodies bags that included sweet shapes silly bands, candy flavored lipgloss, and a new toothbrush to brush away the sugar. The tag reads, "Your so Sweet, Thanks for coming!"
